Mold Maintenance Tune-up for Automotive Parts Manufacturer
Slide Factory Expert Brian Bullard
Slide factory expert, Brian Bullard, recently teamed up with a local distributor to call on our customer in Mexico. As a vital
parts supplier for a luxury automaker, this company relies on and requires Slide’s products to ensure proper maintenance and
longevity of its production tooling. The on-site meeting was arranged based on prior requests from the auto firm to verify
best practices were in place.
After discussing and reviewing their current procedures, Brian was able to demonstrate how
NEXGEN Mold Cleaner would be a better solution for cleaning rust. He
also showed them how to correctly apply Super Grease
or UltraHeat Grease to the back
90% of the ejector pin and Heavy Duty 10% Mold Release to its front 10%.
It was subsequently determined that techs were over-applying
Quick RP Rust Preventive and not
cleaning the mold before the application. Brian further explained that not only is this a waste of product, but excessive
amounts can cause it to seep into the core where ejector pins are located and contaminate the lubricant. An appropriate,
lighter usage would allow Quick RP to flash off without requiring additional cleaning.
This is just one great example of how skilled collaboration to hone an existing process will create more efficient and
profitable outcomes. Slide’s molding experts and local distributors are available to sit down and have a conversation
about any issues encountered by manufacturing or molding customers.
If you’re a manufacturer or molder struggling with unplanned downtime or persistent part defects, let’s collaborate
to pinpoint the root cause of your molding inefficiencies and find the right solution.
